Orchids have very specific nutrition requirements. It is true that they can survive with very low levels of nutrition, but if properly fertilized, they will show us their beauty and resilience to the fullest.

Orchids should not be fertilized with universal fertilizers for "food" for many reasons. The most important is that the source of nitrogen in the product will usually contain a large amount of ammonia and urea/compost. Urea can be toxic.
