What is good water quality?
The water that flows from the tap in households varies by region. We are talking about water from the public water supply. If you have your own well or other local water source, its quality can be anything and a water analysis is needed.

There is a basic division of water according to the content of dissolved minerals:

Soft water
EC is less than 0.4 – EC needs to be increased to 0.4 using CANNA CALMAG AGENT.

Normal water
EC is between 0.4 – 0.5. It contains dissolved calcium, magnesium, and sodium bicarbonate, which stabilizes the water's pH. All CANNA products are developed to work perfectly with normal water.

Hard water
Has an EC above 0.5 and contains more calcium and magnesium than the plant can utilize. If you have hard water, the best way to adjust it is to get a reverse osmosis filter. This produces completely demineralized water with almost zero EC. You then mix the filtered water with hard water to achieve an EC of 0.4. You can also use only filtered water from reverse osmosis, adjusting its EC to 0.4 using CANNA CALMAG AGENT. This way, you ensure that the resulting water contains a perfect mineral ratio for your plants.

Unsuitable water
Water with an EC above 0.5 due to the presence of sodium and chlorides is unsuitable for cultivation. These components block the intake of other nutrients and can be toxic to the plant. Again, the situation can be resolved with reverse osmosis, but in this case, you can adjust the EC value by mixing filtered and regular water only partially. Mix part of the unsuitable water with filtered water to achieve an EC of 0.2. This adds enough bicarbonate to stabilize the pH. To adjust the EC to 0.4, use CANNA CALMAG AGENT.

How to determine that you have unsuitable water?
There are several ways to verify water quality. You can try to obtain an analysis from your water supplier or find information on the water company's website. They are usually readily available and up to date.

Another option is to measure and analyze it yourself. If you don't want to pay for a complete water analysis to a laboratory, you can use a few tools to find the necessary information:
measure the EC value of your water using a conductivity meter
if you measure an EC >0.5 (hard water), continue with the test to determine which substances are causing the hardness
